Coleman Roadtrip 285 Portable Gas Grill
This is the newest addition to our cooking arsenal. We’ve only had it for a few days, and we took it to Potawatomi State Park for the first time. My husband did not want it, and push against me for so long, guess what, he loves it. It’s easy to hook up to a 1 lb. tank or with connection for a large tank. It’s easy to light and control (although it does not have wind screen to protect from gusts.) It also cleaned up nicely when we were packing it. It also has interchangeable pieces (sold separately) but these pieces take this one grill from being just a grill to also being a stove or a griddle. One stop shop if you ask me! I think we’re going to have this for a LONG time!

Coleman Camp Stove and Charbroil Portable Gas Grill
These were the two things we never left home without when we went camping. Both are small, portable and store nicely. After Girls’ Weekend at Lake Kengosa State Park last year and our first camping trip of 2020, I knew it was time to retire these.
The Coleman Camp Stove is great, easy to work with and the wind screens are great, but our model has an ignition button on the front. Not only do you have to turn on the gas and then push the button, but the thing would slide so you’d have to hold the whole unit just to get enough pressure to push the ignition button in. I was pretty sure I singed my eyebrows a couple times.The Char-Broil Portable Gas Grill is great too, it’s just really, really small. For just me and Kyle, it’s fine, but when were are camping with family and friends and the groups get to be 6+ people, you have to cook and eat in shifts, and that’s no fun when you’re trying to spend quality time with loved ones.

I remember when Kyle first pulled this out and started hooking it up to the gas tank. I had no idea what it was, and then he put a lantern on top of it and I was really confused. Then he started connection the hoses and connections…with this one attachment you can have 1 dedicated lantern (that can really light up a campsite), and hoses for both a gas grill and a gas stove. No more lugging around multiple 1 lb tanks or fear running out of gas in the middle of making dinner.
